What is Paganism ? Well on the level of a dictionary definition a Pagan is somebody who follows a polytheistic nature worshiping religion. Paganism is the indigenous belief system of a country or land that pre-seeded the more well know human centered religions of today. So Pagans are generally more in tune with the world and nature, giving praise the majesty of nature, to the seasons, to the tides, to the moon, to energies that surround us.
To be a pagan you are stripping away the idea that there is a son of God or even a God, you are looking beyond this and seeing us all as part of a vibrant world or even universe that has no hierarchy. Pagans do sometimes work with or ask the help of deities, some see these as real conscious beings, others see them as a personification of something else such as the wind, the rain etc.
In the last hundred to two hundred years as the old religions have lost their grip on society, the pagan beliefs have become much more dominant, now branching into many areas that come with labels such as the Wicca, The Occult or The New Age. These are compatible with Paganism and often have many Pagan elements within.
