The Illuminati was founded on 1st May 1776 by philosopher and canon Adam Weishaupt in Ingolstadt. The goal of the Illuminati was to raise awareness through education and moral improvement of the rule of man over man unnecessary. Many myths and conspiracy theories have grown up around an alleged continued existence of the Order and its activities, including inter alia the French Revolution, the struggle against the Catholic Church and the quest for world domination will be counted.
